The Sicilian Slice
This week's Slice is brought to you by coconut oil in the hair.
This week's plate came out of the kitchen in no particular order. A little antipasto, a little cold soup, and one course that's just a brick of meat. September does this to us: the games are back on, the nights are getting shorter, and nobody's cooking one thing all the way through. You'll get playful bars stacked four deep, then a track that sits in the cold like a stone on the windowsill. Salt, sugar, and a whole lot of distortion. Let's dig in.
Steve's got these on repeat:
Action Bronson – Mandem
Just a banger of a track. Classic Bronson doing his thing, putting the coconut oil in his hair.
Czarface, Method Man & Frankie Pulitzer – Mad Technology
It's cool because that's Tom Hardy on there, and it goes so hard. The man is an absolute triple threat. Method and Czar crush it, too.
Elephant Tree – Sails
A classic from Elephant Tree, and a wallop. I love how heavy these guys are, and the combo of heavy riffage with melancholy lyrics droning over the sonic soundscape is right in my wheelhouse.
Gianca's spinning:
Young Thug – Floyd Mayweather (feat. Travis Scott, Gucci Mane and Gunna)

"Yeah dad, that's Jeffery." Me, to my dad, asking who's that in the dress. Might be one of the best four-man-weave rap tracks ever. The way all four of these guys bounce off each other with playful bars on a fun beat will never be replicated.
Opeth – Windowpane
One of my favorite prog metal albums of all time. As the cold, shorter days approach I'll be bumping this non-stop. There's a sadness and a coldness to the entire record that's beautiful.
Queens of the Stone Age – Insignificant Other
Beyond excited for a new QOTSA project. Funky, great vocals from Josh, and just a really fun Queens track. They're in their bag here.
SONG OF THE WEEK
Gang Starr – Work
After a week of ping-ponging between four-man weaves and prog metal, sometimes you just want Premier drums and Guru telling you how it is. No frills, no detour. It just works.
